Supers Association supports Police Remembrance Trust

The President of the Police Superintendents’ Association has presented over £2,000 to the Police Remembrance Trust as part of its annual fundraising efforts.

At the association’s annual conference, held this week in Kenilworth, delegates and guests were encouraged to donate towards the President’s chosen charity.

Chair of the charity, the Revd Canon David Wilbraham MBE spoke at the conference’s awards dinner, updating delegates on the work of the charity, which has been formed after the merger of charities The Police Roll of Honour Trust and National Police Memorial Day.

The charity works to ensure that police officers who die or are killed on duty are remembered and recognised, including through the ongoing development of the official Roll of Honour.

President Nick Smart presented David with a cheque for £2165.00 on behalf of the association and its conference attendees.

David said: “The Trust is responsible, under Royal Charter, for maintaining the UK Police Roll of Honour and organises, at the end of September each year, National Police Memorial Day. We acknowledge and remember the loss of almost 5000 officers and ensure they are never forgotten. We recognise these deaths are very costly examples of the dedication, commitment and bravery shown by Police Officers serving communities every day.

“We are so grateful to the Police Superintendents’ Association for their ongoing support and generosity that ensures our work continues and develops.”

Nick Smart said: “It was a real pleasure to be able to present David with this donation, which I know will help the charity continue its important work, recognising police officers who have given the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

“We know the difference this makes to the families and colleagues of these officers, but also the wider workforce. Thank you to David and his colleagues for the excellent work they’re doing.”
