PSA President Paul Griffiths has commented on the one year anniversary of the murder of George Floyd:
“George Floyd’s murder brought the critical issue of police legitimacy to the fore, and reignited discussion around one of the most challenging issues facing our Service – policing and race
“12 months ago, policing came together in a shared commitment to making positive changes to gain the trust and confidence of black people. Our association remains resolute in this commitment and we are progressing our own work around ensuring difference and wider representation within senior operational ranks.
“Nationally, a great deal of work is planned through the Race Plan of Action, but we must not lose the sense of urgency this issue requires. We must not simply listen to our communities, we must hear and act. Now is the time to see the results of the promises we have made, and deliver the changes our communities and our workforce deserve.”
