The President of the Police Superintendents’ Association has presented £1600 to the Police Treatment Centres (PTC) as part of its conference fundraising efforts.
At the association’s annual conference, held this week in Stratford-Upon-Avon, delegates and guests were encouraged to donate towards the President’s chosen charity.
CEO of the charity, Patrick Cairns spoke at the conference’s awards dinner, updating delegates on the work of the charity, which is dedicated to providing exceptional care and rehabilitation services to the police workforce. Their residential centres in Harrogate, North Yorkshire and Auchterarder, Scotland offer first class facilities designed to create a comfortable and supportive environment.
President Nick Smart presented Patrick with a cheque for £1600 on behalf of the association and its conference attendees, who were encouraged to donate throughout the event.
David said: “The PTC would like to thank the PSA Executive for nominating the Police Treatment Centres as their beneficiary charity at the annual conference in Stratford this year. It was a superbly run and well organised event, with a variety of important issues being discussed on the agenda, including police reform and funding, and wellbeing in policing.
“On the gala dinner night, the association’s members and many other guests dug deep and raised a fantastic £1600. The money will be used to support all our patients when they come to the PTC for treatment, and we are hugely grateful to all at the PSA for leading by example in the way they support police charities.”
Nick Smart said: “A key focus of this year’s conference was workforce wellbeing, and the critical need for infrastructure to support the officers and staff doing fantastic work each day to keep communities safe. Police charities such as PTC are a core part of this, and often step in to provide help and support which can make all the difference to those who are suffering or need respite.
“It was therefore a real pleasure to be able to present Patrick with a donation on behalf of our association and our members. I’d like to thank everyone who donated throughout conference, and hope the money will support the fantastic work underway at PTC’s residential centres.”
