Association response to Front Line Review findings



Association Vice President Ian Wylie attended the launch of the Home Office Front Line Review findings at the Police Federation HQ on Wednesday 10th July. Here, Ian gives his thoughts on the report and recommendations published.

“It was a great pleasure to attend the launch of the Front Line Review findings. The Superintendents’ Association has been engaged with the review from the outset – embracing this as the first true opportunity for government to hear direct feedback, on a wide scale, from those delivering our policing services on the front line.
 
 “We are privileged to have an established national influence, based on the unique insight of our members, and we hope that this review will have served to further reinforce the many issues we have continuously raised with those in power.  It paints a valuable picture of the day to day reality and personal experience of the full rank and file of our Service, which we hope will not be ignored.
 
 “We fully support the findings and recommendations, which have a strong commitment to addressing issues such as officer and staff wellbeing – a core priority for us as an Association committed to the best interests of our members and the wider service.  It also pledges to address the continued need for improved professional development, to reduce unnecessary bureaucracy, to enhance leadership and embrace innovation – all subjects we have spoken on with passion for some time.
 
 “Together with the latest findings from Sir Thomas Winsor, the report has the potential to influence significant and positive change within policing, whilst providing a compelling evidence base to government ahead of the next comprehensive spending review. Our call now, is for the recommendations to be embraced and acted upon as a priority, so that the honest feedback from those who contributed is truly valued.”
